omg no you don't understand. yes exams can't test you on something that's not on the syllabus BUT IN SOR LITERALLY, THE ONLY QUESTIONS ARE IN THE RIGHT BOX ON THE syllabus 'STUDENTS LEARN TO' WITH NO VARIETY. 's like 3-6 POSSIBLE QUESTIONS PER TOPIC

term 1 of year 12 is not that serious, it wont impact your atar if u do terribly bc you'll have literally 87.5% of your atar up for grabs in remaining assessments. PLEASE for the love of god dont start studying 4-6 hours in term 1 you will be burnt out and it literally wont help u, the best time to grind it out is from now (now as in like the current time period for us 25ers). stay consistent, not 4 hours a day but an hour, two hours, and gradually build up. tbh im not a consistent person so i cant be a hypocrite but yeh. also if ur a procastinator it will carry on to year 12. dont convince urself itll change in year 12 trust me itll stay the same

don't take more than 2 major work subjects. i learned that the hard way

I’d say, although essay writing is different for each subject, they’re still governed by some fundamental skills. In order to turn a band 5 essay into a band 6 essay, the best way is to just be interesting and perceptive, and write a take that 90% of the cohort isn’t writing. In other words, answer the question in an interesting way rather than a generic way.

Unless you’re doing the Asian 5, in which I say to just grind .

Also hsc advice can’t be distilled into a few sentences. Make sure to find the best advice for each subject, and ideally exemplars for each to really set a standard for how you would approach them.

be very careful about what subjects u do in y11. my school offers y11 subjects (1 units) that u can't carry to year 12, so everyone doing them on 12 units were put to 11 units, meaning they legit can't drop anything apart from their mx1 or ee1. be careful
