"87 students received University offers. Of these, 95% were early entry offers for university. This was higher than previous years. There were 120 offers in total."

this is a GATEWAY school, so they get like 10 extra selection rank points or dont even need an atar at all for UNSW (wtf)

Why the fuck are they allowing people who aren't capable of the workload at UNSW into UNSW?

definately not the worst by a long shot. Go somewhere rural, these marks would be lower

hey so this might seem crazy but 98% of students dont chose subjects based on scaling!
u really have to unless u want a high risk of low atar

doesn't matter if ur obsessed with business studies or agriculture. if ur not getting a 90 mark (which is actually very hard to get given the subjectivity of these subjects) it's literally not worth it.

ud have a higher atar contribution in a good scaling subject such as physics

some people dont want a high atar, some are fine w a 70 ATAR, others are fine w no band 6s
not everyone is the same,
ATAR. IS. JUST. A. NUMBER.
it doesnt mean anything unless you make it mean something, its existance started upon the principle of identifying the capabilites of student in regards for the university degree, if the degree you're interested in requires a 70 ATAR, why would you have the ATAR define who you are?
at the end of the day, it doesnt matter what subjects you chose (whether high scaling or low), or what your ranks and marks are, hell it doesnt even matter what school you get into as long as you dont make it matter

like some people care what others think, while others dont and it's related to what that person defines as 'important'

so yes, some people do want the 'high risk of low atar' not because they're stupid, controversially they are the smart ones for not letting a system get to their head and destroying what they believe in (in most cases: that humanities are low scaling subjects bc they're for stupid people)

not always true. the dux of my school last year did no maths, she took all conventionally low-scaling subjects (ancient, legal, business, industrial tech, english, ee1). bro landed 3 state ranks and ended up getting an atar of 99.90. it isn't a matter of what subjects you choose - you just have to do well in whatever subjects you choose and your atar will follow

of course it is very difficult to get 3 state ranks regardless of the subject, but my point is that you can get a high atar with any combination of subjects as long as you grind well for them

yeh uh 3 state ranks is a slight anomaly 💀
the high risk of low atar may still be there but it aint matter if you're that cracked 💀
