The day before HSC results when the distinguished acheiver's list from last year got leaked (I didn't check myself), and then people started texting me to tell me that I didn't get a band 6 for any of my subjects, and then waking up next morning to an ATAR which was more than 10 whole numbers lower than my predicted ATAR.

I'm DEFINITELY not salty and TOTALLY over it.

But misery aside, the world did keep on revolving, the sun kept on shining.

Also what's there to cry about when we literally had 3 months off after that lol.

Literally everyone says it, but ATAR doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, just know that you tried your best and that's all that matters, enjoy life baddies!

i will say that for english adv - it is important to have good internal marks and base essays. its ok to have one weak point (for me it was hands down mod c), but for the essays its very helpful to be getting 17/18 + consistently in internals. i did get 15/20 for mod a in term 1, but i worked on it and bumped it up to 17/20. and my common mod and mod b was consistently 18/19 level.

i guess what im trying to say is that you need to understand ur own strengths and weaknesses. if you are good at mod c, write a base creative & discursive and practice adapting it like crazy (for mod c, the most versatile creatives often arise from ones that are based in culture, a mismatched sense of belonging, etc.) if you are good at essays, same thing, write a base essay for each and adapt. if you are struggling in any or all of the areas, honestly i would highly advise getting a private tutor, and working together on creating a base essay/imaginative/discursive.

i emphasise a lot on having a base structure for your english responses. i know this is very contrary to popular advice, but trust me - it saves you so much headache in the actual exam trying to have to construct an entire essay out of memorised quotes and context floating in your head. plus its SO easy to adapt - lets say you have a paragraph about prejudice for an essay about the Merchant of Venice. based on your stimulus, you can slightly tweak your analysis and add in the keywords of the question while still retaining the theme, context, and bits of previous analysis you had memorised and that you KNOW works well. the best way in my opinion to do well is to have a great base work, and practice adapting it to so many different questions.

hope this helped:)

getting back english task 2 yr 11 back, 14/20 and my teacher called my parents to ask me to drop to std
bruh what, id be so happy to get 14/20 even in yr12 let alone 11. Also what kinda teacher tells a student to drop cause they got 70% IN YEAR 11 (where marks dont matter), you could get 14 in trials and still go up to 19-20/20 by the HSC
