The formula sheet has a bunch of Ksp values for sparingly soluble/ insoluble compounds so I was wondering if there's any reason I should memorise the whole solubility rules (which would take a lot of time)

I was thinking of running the If it's in the formula sheet =insoluble if it's not there =soluble strat should I not do that

the formula sheet strat usually works but it's better to memorise at least the common solubility rules
e.g. knowing that all nitrates and group 1's are soluble would save a bit of time and i highly recommend learning that

there's always the chance they throw something that doesn't work at you, but if you're fine doing a bit of gambling and hoping that they don't, then by all means don't memorise them.

The Ksp values in the formula sheet should suffice for what you need to answer exam questions.
After all, the HSC Chemistry exam is not meant to be a test of your ability to memorise facts (hah!).
Have you tried using the normal acronyms?
NAGSAG = soluble salts
CaStroBear = insoluble
etc.
However, it is always preferable if you can understand the trends in the Periodic Table and why compounds are soluble or not.

For me the strat is just if it sounds insoluble then it’s probably insoluble. My friend and I tried this for a ton of compounds and it works every time. What I mean is “calcium carbonate” just sounds really insoluble iykwim, while “sodium hydroxide” just sounds really soluble🤣. Never failed me

For eg without google or prior knowledge does “magnesium hydroxide” sound soluble?
it’s not soluble
Idk maybe I’m just yapping and this doesn’t work for anyone else

OK.
So what do you think? Is ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid soluble or insoluble?
Hmm definitely insoluble stuff with crazy names or Roman numerals just give off an insoluble vibe
