Getting a band 6 isn't that easy, but getting a band 5 is very easy, whereas in std, even a band 5 is a struggle if u hate english

You also have to consider that everyone, even the eng ext 1 and 2 students, do adv. Those people are sweeping a lot of band 6s
I just want a band 4 at this point. What raw marks do u think is around that range?

But honestly it’s just the mental health part that is making me what to drop cause I hate how my self esteem is getting destroyed 24/7 which demotivates me and makes me so depressed to the point that I end up doing no work. And my teacher is really strict and the English department doesn’t care about our mental health so it sucks
Yeahh totally, it's a shame that you're feeling demotivated so early on. If I have to be honest though, it seems like English is the one subject that u just have to get through if u want to complete the HSC. It's a terribly designed subject, but I don't think it's necessarily adv's fault. I think it's just the fact that English sucks

If your school makes u drop then that's out of your control, but rn I think it'd be better for u if u held on

But it kinda is adv fault to cause the teachers in std are so chill whereas the teachers in adv are so strict and beat u up 24/7

Hmm yeah the class environment is also a problem

Looking at raw marks data, it seems that you need 60+ for a band 4 in std, whereas only 50+ in adv

Please don't aim so low though

I just need at least 1 decent mark to bring my confidence up but also the way they have been treating us for the past few weeks hasn’t been so great. I yapped a lot about it on my profile post so if I want context u can read it

I know but the fact that my school is doing so shit in English doesn’t give me an hope. I don’t even know if I’ll get a band 4 at this point

:frown2: I'm sorry that your school is so unsupportive

What's your next assessment? Maybe I can help you with some feedback for your practice responses. In adv, if ur not actually good at english and u don't need a very high mark, u can just memorise and adapt

(just PM me)

That’s what I’ve been doing but my teacher always says that I don’t answer the question properly even if I memorise. I think I just need more time to build on my skills but I can’t do that in 4 days

Guys I'm pretty sure my teacher will tell me to drop because she mentioned how she needs to talk to us as to whether or not we should consider continuing this course. If my teacher tells me I should drop should I?

Teachers at our school (note: is a bottom 50 ranked school) said it's a negligible difficulty difference but with worse scaling. If you want a nice ATAR, I probably wouldn't drop it.

Pretty much everyone that did standard at my school got terrible ATARs except one or two.
But honestly my teachers don’t care about scaling and stuff. Like if we do bad they’ll make us drop even tho we’re not doing too bad and we’re better of in adv

Yeah, my school doesn't even offer standard for this very reason

Do u go to selective? But yeah I decided that I will talk to my teacher tmrw and we’ll see. But she will probably make me drop cause she said that she needs to talk to some people as to whether or not adv is the “right” course for us
