could you please elaborate why Bachelor of law at WSU isn't the best viable option
The issue is that the university that a graduate attended is taken into consideration in the legal field compared to other fields. This becomes increasingly relevant in the case of larger/well-established firms, which favour graduates from universities such as USyd and UNSW. A student whose aim is to be employed at such firms will likely struggle to find opportunities if they are a graduate of WSU (or universities such as MQ) unless they manage to achieve very high university results (which would typically lead to a top-tier award from the university, such as a university medal) and are able to build substantial work experience that would increase their competitiveness for graduate roles.

This is from an employability perspective, which is separate from the quality of education perspective. The quality of education will likely be good, as is the case of most universities.

cheers man. But how would it go at UNSW as they have a LAT test too?
UNSW will also require favourable results during your time at WSU (at least 1 year full-time for them to be considered) as well as favourable LAT performance. You would need to allocate time to prepare for the LAT in addition to that needed for your university studies. It may be challenging to balance both of these tasks but nothing is impossible when you are committed and willing to work hard. :)

I have an offer from both usyd and wsu for Psychology honours, wsu is obviously closer and convenient whereas usyd has the prestige. Which one should I choose?

Congratulations on your offers! Prestige is not a primary consideration when it comes to psychology. I currently work in recruitment at NSW Health and based on my experience:
  • Graduates from both universities are offered psychologist positions, i.e. the ones where a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) with provisional registration is sufficient.
  • Elements considered include academic results, interview performance and performance in assessment components where applicable. The specific university has little effect here.

The bigger question is to make sure that psych is right for you, that its your calling or passion. 4 years study plus I think 1 year internship (at low pay) is a big commitment. There are lots of psychologists out there and the pay is poor and student debt is high - It’s hard to earn above $100k even after a few years experience and for that you deal with people’s trauma - again it has to be your passion. You also likely need a masters to unlock the extra cash to a $100k earnings.

On the Uni question, usyd just for brand name, there’s a stack of psych majors looking for work so maybe usyd gives some advantage.
