also cus harder past papers generally tend to come from the top selective schools which usually go above and beyond which is not necessaryto encourage you to study outside of what your teacher solely gives you
and yea cus if everyone in ur class does past papers which are harder than ur school and that ur teacher gives u, everyones most likely gonna get in the 90s, so schools want to test you by putting students within a range of marks to identify who actually studies outside of teacher resources and all that (im rawdogging my logic so dont rely on me for this)
