the people i know who have transferred to ruse usually depend on extra curriculars apart from edutest, but yeah extracurriculars mainly. they have decent reports so like mostly A's and a tonne of extra curriculars. if im not mistaken, im pretty sure someone in this chat got 3 superiors but still got in because of her extracurriculars to ruse. also it doesn't matter what school you come from, you have a chance so make good use of it. a lot of people even from gosford, penrith, and hurlstone have made it in, so don't worry about schools if that was ever a concern for you

that's really good already, i think thats pretty good for our school, though if you are gonna apply for ruse next year, focus on getting good grades (if you do already, keep it up), and have a good attendance, and I'd say do some extracurricular activities at school or a leadership position like src is good too, but if you're not willing to go for extracurricular activities, i feel like you should participate and achieve high in competitions
Here’s a few things about my application and me in general (lmk if I’m worthy of anything)

I’m in the hpge class for my school so keep that in mind for rankings and all

- Year 7 I had 2As 4Bs 2Cs overall
- Year 8 I had 4As and 4Bs, doing above average in my class in the important subjects
- In top math class (math 1) this year and making it again next year
- I have participated in no competitions like icas, amc, etc
- I play soccer in club and our club won the premiership and made the grand finals (div 2)
- I also referee (this season I refereed over 100 games so that’s about 7 2 hr games per week)
- In naplan, I got top band for every subject, all exceeding basically
- My math ranking in the extension course is 25/54
- I got an A in English (my school doesn’t have the rankings for whatever reason)
- I got 6th in my class for science, also getting an A
- In my most recent tests for all core subjects I’ve gotten extremely good marks, which will move my ranking way up to top 5 potentially
- If I were mainstream my math ranking would be 2/120
- My school is ranked in the top 70
- In edutest I got high average for 3, above average for 1 and average for 1

Sorry for all the yap but that’s basically a summary of myself 😅
If you got any questions feel free to ask but I’m planning to appeal

Lol honestly I’ll take a mid ranked school like girra or Penrith, even tech for that matter just cause of the selective nature and accelarated courses they provide

I'm not too sure about sydney tech. when did they start making offers? if they started making offers like in the past 2 weeks, then chances are low, because they would want to wrap up the entry matters by end of term 3. if its recently, then yeah there's a chance. I think you should just shoot your shot, regardless of the outcome.
They started interviews 2 weeks back and they sent out all the emails for 2nd and 3rd pref people today (including myself). My mum called them and the school said y9 entries were delayed cause a lot of kids are leaving so they were waiting for more spots

ok for the school, don't worry, I'm pretty sure they'll accept you. your extra curriculars are pretty good, but i think you should have 2-3 more because there will be other people who have racked up a hell of extra curriculars. i suggest you look into your school for extra curricular opportunities like public speaking or debating. for your academics, given that you said you'd be getting A in the core subjects that's very good. I suggest you should get A's in almost every subject, like at least 1 subject B, because anything with C or below or too many B's is an automatic no for them. so given that youre applying next year, if your reports this year are mostly A's and next year is A's you're set to go. Though I'd say for the edutest, you would need at least 3 superiors to even be considered, because they look at your edutest marks first before looking at the portfolio. I suggest you practice the edutest papers thoroughly, practice time management, practice writing etc, because you have experience now, so it'll feel better on your second time and you're good to go. though i forgot what grade you're in. what grade are you in right now?

Right now I’m in year 8 however i dont really mind what school I get into or try out for because to me they’re basically all the same. I just want a top 60 school that I’m guaranteed to get in.. I don’t know how strict ruse is when it comes to accepting people from the interviews but no one from my school got into the interviews. If u think I could make ruse next year lmk and I’ll lock in

honestly youll probably get itno those schools too if you put in the right effort
Sydney tech was my 3rd preference and they rejected me.. but I’m waiting for my hast results from girraween so I ultimately know whether or not appealing is worth it. I need to score in the top 20% i assume to have any chance at all

you're still pretty young lol you have a lot of time. but entry for year 10 and 11 is very hard compared to entry to year 9. saying that, youre clearly on your way to getting good reports, so if you just do more extracurricular, and practice hard for the edutest, I'd say you can get into james ruse, however like try to win some grand award of some sort like a writing competition, maths competiiton, science competition, even a sports competition is fine. for the interviews, i know for year 10 entry and year 11 entry, its like 10/25 people selected so like lets say 25 people get chosen for the interview, 10 students get in. note that these numbers are just an example not actually how many people get in. for the interview, i'd say theres no harm in hiring a tutor for llike 2-3 weeks to improve your responses, but it can be a little costly, so you can watch interview courses for free like tedx etc.

id say though that some transfers have quite a hard time adjusting to the like lifestylel of ruse, like what i mean is the academic flow and competition, so getting in in year 10 would be optimal than year 11, because i know theres a much lower success rate of year 11's in ruse than year 10's. not a lot of year 11 transfers i know have performed well in our school, except for the few who are kinda like overachievers since the very beginning of their high school career. id say dont slack off if you do get in, because thts a mistake many ruse transfers make (senior transfers).

Hey guys has anyone who chose girraween as their first preference gotten the letter back yet? Personally I’m applying for y9 and I haven’t got any letters back from girraween at all so I’m considering just emailing the school because this is the last day their office is open. Am I the only one in this situation? I’m going to email them at 12pm
nope
