What advice would u give to urself first term of year 12
Okay this isn't just for first term but overall:
  • DO NOT procrastinate! It’s okay to take breaks and to not do things straight away, but don’t let this drag on - not just for year 12 but this is a habit you will suffer from if you don’t put an end to it now.
  • No matter what happens, please still try. Even if you have like 1 week til the trials and your internal ranks aren’t the best, that 1 week of effort will boost up your marks/ranks even if it’s just by a little.
  • Start early. Exam study especially. Secure your rank!! So many students tell themselves ‘I still have next term’, but I promise getting a high mark in the first few tasks will keep you in the top/above people who didn't do as well in the first few tasks.
  • Put in a lot of effort, always ask questions and seek feedback from teachers, past students - all the experienced people WHO HAVE VALUABLE FEEDBACK. What I mean by this: people who are actually bothered to teach and break down things to you, not just ‘this is good’ and students who have preferably received band 6s (although I’ve spoken to students with high band 5s who are also great) just to ensure they know what they’re doing.
  • Take breaks and don’t overwhelm yourself worrying about everything. What’s meant to be will happen and take every single thing as an opportunity to learn and grow, bringing me to my next point:
  • REFLECT! This is not just good for yr 12 but for life: if you end up getting a mark/rank you are upset with, ask yourself why it happened? That you didn’t put in the effort and have the discipline etc - how can I improve from this situation…
  • Make ur notes/flashcards whatever you use as you’re going through the content in class so you don’t have a million things to do right before the exam + it keeps thing organised in one place
  • Study methods: passive study (highlighting, reading, videos) first to LEARN the content, however to ensure it stays in ur mind do active recall (e.g. anki flashcards every morning/afternoon, making ur notes/flashcards by doing ‘jot recall’ - jotting down/creating cards based off of what u remember then go back and check, repeat til u remember everything) etc. PAST PAPERS OFC!
  • Don’t leave past questions (trial and hsc) til ur done with all content - practice questions as much as u can.
  • Collate resources (detailed b6 notes, exam papers, textbooks) before yr 12 (and ofc add on as you go) - i recommend making folders on ur laptop for each subject
  • Reflect on yr 11 and set goals for yr 12 based on that - constantly revisit ur goals each term
  • Create an effective study plan - have a routine and make sure you add breaks, eat well and spend time outside + physical activity. Sleep is important!
  • Practice under timed conditions (give yourself less time) to ensure you finish ur exams (esp trials and HSC) a little quicker as it leaves more time for planning and checking all ur answers

guys is anyone else actually so sad to graduate!!!
im also going to miss this one teacher that is my absolute fav. does anyone stay in cnotact with their teachers after they graduated?
Yeah I will miss seeing my friends daily, I will also miss my fellow classmates and teachers. I don't think teachers are allowed to keep contact with students after school? I may be wrong, however.
