It’s a program with western Sydney uni where u get to do a uni subject in yr 11 and 12. In year 9 and 10 they have an online course thing to do and they have some special days where u go to the uni for some activities relating to leadership
Are you planning to do it because I'm not sure if it aligns with my goal of pursuing actuarial/commerce, but on the other hand I'm not sure if there are any benefits that might carry over for other uni's and what the workload is like

I’m in year 10 and the program started in year 9 so I can’t do it now but based on what my friends have told me it is kinda boring to do especially in year 9 and 10 but I guess it is good to put on ur resume when applying for other courses or uni
Really? St Mary's senior hs email that they sent talked about applications for the academy U program and it didn't have any prerequisites I believe.

Because in my school u start it in year 9 and u can't join it afterwards

this is really old but just in case anyone ever rocks up here again, academy U is a program that allows you to gain an excellence / engagement scholarship at Western Sydney University.
In year 11, you'll have an extra subject for 1 semester called 'leadership in complexity'. This goes on your RoSA as 2 units. You'll complete the subject as a genuine student at WSU.
If you complete the course, you get the engagement scholarship, valued at $22,500 over 3y
and if you get a distinction, you get the excellence scholarship, valued at another $22,500 over 3y
(yes you can stack scholarships)
Even if you're not planning on going to WSU, it's definitely a "wow" statement for various other things like employment or uni applications that have long-answer responses. Just pretend that you want go to WSU. Applying for the scholarships doesn't take any slots on your UAC application anyway because WSU has their own UAC portal.
Just a note, the subject content for me was super interesting, and while I did graduate with a distinction, it was HARD. Like crazy tough. You have to adapt to university style guides, crunching research papers, and writing full academic essays while balancing your other academics.
As for St Marys Senior, they allowed applications from year 11 because it's a year 11-12 school.
