is it better to go to a school that is ranked in the 200s vs 400+ and is that different enough to make the move worth it?
also can weak cohorts pull down people in the process of moderation? if so by how much?

literally no difference. for any meaningful difference u need to go to a top 5 school.
It also might be worse to be in a more competitive cohort since with a 400th ranked school you don't have to be smart to maintain rank 1 (a rank that guarantees your assessment mark will not be lower than your exam mark)

For me it was worth it because there was better education and resources to allow me to improve but since it looks like ur in yr 10 I don’t think it will be worth it because it takes time to catch up and being on par with everyone else

so its not at all easier or better to be in 200 ranked skl where u might have to be 20 than a 400+ skl where u have to be first?

like coolcat said, it wouldn't make much difference... I would say the learning environment might be nicer, but probably not worth the move if you have to travel a much bigger distance to reach the new school :)

if you do well, you'll do well. it sounds crazy but like...
you can minimise the effect of a poor cohort by ranking high in your classes, and honestly, if you put consistent effort in across the hsc you'll be fine :)
