hi, my year 12 subject selections aren't due for a while BUT I'm stressed because I can't decide what to do. here are my current subjects: 3u eng, 3u maths, french, latin, and ancient. I love French and Latin, they're my best 2 subjects, and I've locked in French and Latin ext for next year. I'm prob dropping ancient, so my main dilemma is how many units should I do for English and maths?
I like English a lot. For advanced, I'm doing well and got full marks in the most recent assessment. English has been a strong subject since basically the start of high school. I've been considering 4u English for a while and I enjoy writing as a hobby, but at school I do better in analytical writing than creative writing. Also idk if have the passion to commit to a major work. For 3u Eng, my marks are slightly lower than advanced, but I'm likely going to keep it.
I don't like maths as much as my other subjects, but I go to tutoring and I don't want to waste my parent's money. I also aim to get a high atar (99.5+) and I know that if I do well in maths, the scaling will help me. For advanced, I've gotten 34/40 (4th in class) and 49/50 (1st in class) which were honestly pretty unexpected. For ext 1, my marks have been around the same/slightly lower. I never considered 4u maths before but recently I've been doing well in 3u, preparing a lot for each test, AND the good scaling is tempting for someone with majority humanities subjects...
So here are my options:
3u eng, 3u maths, French cont+ext, Latin cont+ext
4u maths, 3u eng, French cont+ext, Latin cont+ext (drop one later)
4u eng, 3u maths, French cont+ext, Latin cont+ext (drop one later)
4u eng, 2u maths, French cont + ext, Latin cont + ext, ancient (I need min 10u from y11 to y12)
4u maths, 2u eng, French cont+ext, Latin cont + ext, ancient
What should I do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
