should i pick it up? i know theres a high workload and has a low band 6 rate. for those who did it how much time did you dedicate to studying this course and was the content/hsc test hard? would you recommend to do this course?

so i don't do it, but my close friend does. essentially your 'major work' seems to be very time-consuming and tedious, and the hsc test is really weird... it's essentially all the weird things in science, like the validity, accuracy, precision, analysing data etc. tbh unless you REALLY love that kind of thing i don't see any benefit in taking it.
on the other hand, if you do any histories, you should consider taking history extension - super easy to b6, super fun, very 'state-rankable' subject imo

as a dent student this subject helped me so much in uni tbh, im applying the knowledge i learned in my hsc to my current lit reviews. those concepts like accuracy, precision, etc arent "weird", theyre beneficial. i applied a lot of my sci ext notes to my bio and chem courses, bc these subjects also focus on these concepts.
i personally didnt put too much time into it and got a band 6, it actually ended up pulling up my atar. i found it sooo so fun to have uni professors and PhD students as my mentors, the hsc test was easy imo. our school didnt even do a trial exam for this subject, lots of schools dont bc they just make u submit ur final report as ur "trial" mark.
i say go for it, and if it gets too much u can always drop it bc its just 1 unit <3
