I feel like the main issue with the fx-8200 AU (atleast the current version) is that it is more time consuming to do the same things. The navigation to get the function you want is longer, for example to write a % sign you have to go through 3 menus. On the fx-82 AU all you had to do was press 2 buttons

Other than that, performance is better with greater character length, more modes, improved variable function, more output formats, and better log button. I do think the round buttons look kind of bad, there is a little too much negative space, and I don't know what the point is of a scroll button when we already have navigation buttons for vertical and horizontal.

i find the blue shift functions are not a good colour, at least not on black plastic

there is a japanese version, the fx-JP900CW which has gold, not blue

it's a much better colour contrast

they should have replaced the blue with the gold for the 8200 au ii

maybe they ran out of gold ink!

The japanese versions are really nice looking, I like how they remix the calculator. But for some reason, some of their models have a different menu? What's up with that?

the main issue with the japanese one is the language.

if u know japanese then fine, but there is a way to convert it to english. i forgot how to do it.

maybe later i rediscover and post the steps to do this

i worked it out

in the fx-JP900CW the home screen looks like this

jap.png

not much use if u don't read japanese but u can convert to english this way

OK -> SETTINGS -> V -> OK -> V -> V -> OK -> OK -> HOME

which makes home screen look like this now

eng.png

so that together with the gold shift functions (instead of blue) makes it a much better calculator
