Hi, I am trying to gain admission into yr 10 james ruse or baulkham Hills. I will be sitting the edutest this year to gain entry next year. I have some strong certificates and high distinction to put on my application but the problem is I got 2 bs in my report for 2024 sem1. It was science and English:(. But otherwise I have gotten straight as. What result do I need to get in the edutest to get into james ruse or baulko for next yr? Also I know that the spots available r quite low for yr 10 entry so I was wondering how many they would offer? Also I'm currently in nsg

I think your report looks good. Come to ruse, not baulko :)
for edutest, you want to have 3 superior to 4 superiors. but then maybe 5 for year 10.
year 10 entry can be really tough (only 2 people accepted this year), anwyay dont be too disappointed if you dont get it for year 10 entry and try again for year 11 entry. good luck

Sooo I transferred to Baulkham Hills this year from Hornsby Girls. In my case we had a full class of transfers (~26 kids total) come in from a range of schools (there was even one from Cherrybrook Tech, a local school, though I do believe you being in NSG does give you a bit of an upper hand). From what I've seen, to qualify for ruse nowadays, you pretty much need full superiors / straightish As to even get considered for admission, especially since there'll be a significantly less amount of slots available for year 10.
Personally, I qualified for baulko with only 3 superiors, though keeping in mind: I grinded out straight As for the first semester of y8 + superiors don't actually tell you much about how you placed, with it covering ~10% of the population (from memory) (which could count for thousands of fellow applicants).
It's a good idea to buy some of the practice tests available despite how expensive they are, though you shouldnt need more than like 5 lol - I found it was good preperation just for the type of exam it is, but if you can't afford it / any other reason, the questions were pretty similar to those from standard tests you go through like NAPLAN, OC and even selective lol -> from memory they're all multiple choice apart from writing so just make sure you can go through those relatively quickly.
Also I think the writing and reasoning tests probably have a slightly heavier weighting, though thats mostly my speculation, just because it's really common for kids to get tutored for subjects like mathematics and english. (I got "above average" marks on mathematics and reading in the tests and I still got in fine lolol)

OVERALL my experience transferring wasn't all that bad, I don't think yours will be either.. just try not to stress too much, especially during the exam + and NSG is already a solid school anyway lol, even if your parents try persuade you otherwise.
I sincerely wish you goodluck on your journey though !!
