Hi all, was curious what I should pick for my year 11/12. I'm pretty confident that I'll be doing Maths adv + Extension 1, English adv, Physics, SLR(1 unit), Modern history and maybe? Biology but thats to be decided. I'm pretty decent at maths but im 99% sticking to just Ext 1, English I'm not a fan of but I do get good marks, Physics I am willing to put the effort in since I am decent at maths but I have heard that it is a time heavy topic, SLR for year 11 since its a filler, modern history I do like a lot primarily due to the wars (WWI, WWII etc.) but please lmk if theres more and finally the last subject which I'm thinking either; Biology which I've heard is easy but a very boring; Legal studies which is boring but a bit easier than modern. Year 12 would be (Maths ext1, English Adv/maybe ext1, Physics, modern and Biology/Legal if I don't do Ext English. Please lmk anything about the subjects and what I should be doing thanks everyone.

Do you know what kind of field you want to go into in the future? Of course it's totally fine if you've got no idea yet, because it's just year 10, but if you're looking into going into humanities-related fields, then legal studies could be great. If you're looking into STEM or medical fields, then bio would be helpful (although chem might be even better, as it's often assumed knowledge).

I do bio, and it's usually considered easier than the other sciences in that there are fewer calculations and the concepts are less abstract. However, you do need to put a lot of time into it, because it's quite content-heavy, and it requires quite a lot of writing and application of content in the form of short answer questions. Don't make my mistake of getting complacent just because the content seems easy. You still need to spend a lot of time practicing writing responses and applying your knowledge. However, if you're interested in living things, particularly genetics and disease, then I wouldn't call bio boring. A lot of my peers are loving the year 12 modules, so I recommend looking at the syllabus to see what you'd learn.

I don't do legal, but I have some friends who are very passionate about it. These people are usually those who want to go into law or related fields, and they like how applicable the case studies are to the real world. It does involve a lot of essay writing and memorisation too.

I suppose the main message here is that both of these subjects are content-heavy and require significant time and effort, but are not necessarily "boring", depending on your interests.

heyy i did both legal and bio and personally i preferred legal, it def was not boring at all (out of all the subjects i did legal was the most interesting). I hated bio to the core but thats because im not good at/passionate about science in general and i liked writing essays (legal has a lot of essays/writing in general). Like @Hehehe22 said choose what interests u more, do u prefer science or humanities?
