I'm all for fanfiction I just don't know if markers would particularly enjoy romance thematically...also they tend to be really long and we have like 1000 words max - I feel like attempting to adapt something like that would be really difficult

Honestly what I did was think of an experience that had 'depth' (markers like stuff that is cultural, philosophical, or both) and just made it imaginative (I'm ngl a creative writer but I can't write for school for the life of me) - that also makes thinking of a setting easier because you can just imagine it
If you can't think of any steal a story from your parents or the news
And then think of some object you can wax poetic about - you do chem and geo, I'm sure there's some sort of metaphor you can draw from your prior knowledge that 1. adds jargon and 2. sounds deep
For example your character could idk stare at a tree and ponder the non-spontaneity of photosynthesis, and how it requires energy to drive, and how their life feels meaningless without an external driving force
You could honestly turn anything into an extended metaphor

Ok this is really stupid but maybe use the metaphor of something dying/decaying or something preventing u from seeing stuff when u see stuff relating to Eng and then when u see numbers everything starts to clear up and some sort of epiphany happens

OH and steal stuff from your other texts! they love intertextuality and like Shakespeare was smart for a reason, you could totally take a metaphor, if you do T.S. Eliot you could like take inspo from the scarecrows in The Hollow Men

personally i think romance is just incredibly hard to write without meaningful romantic experiences - and your perception of this definitely changes with time. y12 me would have written an absolute shocker if it was romance themed

while hard i think generally writing is better when it is about something that you have experienced/properly understand. think my highest scoring mod c work was some stupid thing where i was travelling around in trains being bored and thinking about things
