Hi, I'm currently taking 13 units for year 11 (adv english, 3u math, chemistry, biology, legal studies, economics) and after seeing my prelim results I'm considering dropping to 10 units for year 12. I know for sure I'll be dropping economics due to my performance + I genuinely do not care for it, which would leave me with 11u in year 12. Most people I've asked have said it's best to stay with 11+ units so I'll have something to fall back on if I perform super badly in something.
My biggest concern is in maths, because this year I've struggled to keep up with workload and I have a poor understanding on some concepts, which really showed in my prelims and term 2 exams. I barely scraped a pass for extension and my advanced mark was disappointing too. I don't know if I should drop extension and just focus on advanced, because dropping ext would also mean I'd be switching classes to a different teacher, which would be favourable as I hate my current teacher's way of running the classroom.
Would it be advisable to drop to 10 units next year? Should I continue with 11u for a term to see how I hold up? I'm unsure if the risk of having no backup units outweighs the pros of having more time to balance out my subjects. I would appreciate any advice, thank you
