there hasn't been an amendment repealed since 1933 lol and you need two thirds of congree to approve itwait lol google just says it has to go through congress or some shit. thats way more achievable tf
fake ass democracythere hasn't been an amendment repealed since 1933 lol and you need two thirds of congree to approve it
vastly less acheivable than a referendum
Unfortunately, this is very true hence why I wouldnt support gun control in the US. Whilst I support gun control as a concept, you have to be pragmatic and in the US there are just too many guns for gun control to ever be effective (not to mention the legal and cultural components). I do think though that if both sides can agree to invest more in early intervention and vastly improved mental health resources this might help reduce gun crime as a first step.there's nothing to be done. Any possible legislation would be too weak to do anything or take literally decades to have an effect
There's over 400 million civilian owned guns in the US. Any restrictions on gun ownership aren't going to be like australia where everyone just hands their guns in
Many people illegally own guns now and will continue doing so, and most of the legal gun owners will keep their guns or sell them privately. So the total in circulation will still be massive.
To be fair, referendums in Australia are also difficult to pass.fake ass democracy
Yeah but no change since the 30s is way worse. wait also isn't the whole point of a constitution to maintain the separation of powers? How does that work if changing it is solely in the hands of the legislature (or whatever the fuck congress idk). I imagined most western democracies had similar constitutions tbhTo be fair, referendums in Australia are also difficult to pass.
people sell drugs illegally. should we make meth legal because people will buy it illegally anyway? regardless thats not even an issue. as long as it's in the constitution, guns will be everywherethere's nothing to be done. Any possible legislation would be too weak to do anything or take literally decades to have an effect

You're the one who said "that doesn't mean they shouldn't make a fuss about it and just submit to kids getting shot in the face everyday"people sell drugs illegally. should we make meth legal because people will buy it illegally anyway? regardless thats not even an issue. as long as it's in the constitution, guns will be everywhere
but we can't know if the suspect had mental health conditions that would have prevented him from being given access to a gun in aus?You would literally need the US to have stricter gun control than Europe and Australia (and successfully enforce this) to have prevented this shooting![]()
yeah but this isn't some crime of passionbut we can't know if the suspect had mental health conditions that would have prevented him from being given access to a gun in aus?
what if he's got some kind of mental disorder where under australian law he wouldn't be allowed to purchase a gun but he can in the us?
you know its reliable when it comes from fox news and has the fake assassination pic as the thumbnaila majority of the american left supports assassination
but its "muh guns" "muh mental health" "muh inequality"

New bombshell study reveals 'assassination culture' spreading on the left under President Trump
More than half of left-leaning Americans say it would be at least โsomewhat justified" to assassinate Donald Trump, according to a new study shared exclusively with Fox News Digital.www.foxnews.com
A constitution essentially establishes the structures and legal principles by which a country is governed (of which the separation of powers is an aspect). Changing the US constitution requires a two-thirds vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, or by a national convention called for by two-thirds of the states. The proposed amendment then needs to be ratified by three-fourths of the states. I cant imagine any constitutional amendment in the US coming close to that threshold. In Australia we need 50% of people and 50% of states to agree and we have a hard enough time with that threshold.Yeah but no change since the 30s is way worse. wait also isn't the whole point of a constitution to maintain the separation of powers?
